The flooding in Manitoba and in particular the Whiteshell has been in the news recently, as water levels rise on the lakes. You’ve been reaching out to us, asking about road access to the ranch, our safety, and the condition of our trails. We’re really fortunate right now: you can still easily reach us from the TransCanada (#1) Highway, and since we’re not directly on a lake, the flooding isn’t at our doorstep (or your doorstep, if you’re staying in one of our cabins). The Falcon Creek Hiking Trail has also been re-opened (yay!). With the soggy ground along some sections of the trail, you’ll probably want to wear rubber boots.
And yes, we’re still horseback riding! We usually have wetland water crossings on a few of our trails, and as you might expect, they are deeper than average this year (whereas last year they were non-existent)! There are a few wet spots, but overall the trails are in pretty good condition. We’re still riding most of our routes, including the popular One Hour Group Rides, longer Private Rides and UFO Rides.
Our horses have had a longer-than-normal “holiday” this spring, and they’re eager to get back in (on?) the saddle!
