We offer a range of trail riding options, with horses and trails suitable for all ages and abilities. Horses are assigned to each rider based on size and temperament, and all rides begin with a review of basic horsemanship. We trail ride year-round! Advance reservations are required. One-Hour Ride

This is our most popular ride, perfect for riders of all ages and abilities. Experienced guides match you with one of our well-trained horses and review basic horsemanship with each rider before leaving the Ranch. Once on the trail, relax and enjoy your horse and the beautiful boreal forest of the Whiteshell Provincial Park. All rides are grouped according to riding ability.

Pony Rides

Lead your child around the large pond at the ranch on quiet, friendly ponies. This is a great way to introduce your child to horses and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Forty-Minute Ride

This slightly shorter ride is ideal for families with young children looking for that first safe and enjoyable horseback experience. The ride follows our well-maintained trails through a beautiful forest setting.

UFO Ride

This horseback ride is a unique experience for any rider and especially for those with an interest in the unexplained. Your mount takes you to the actual site of the “Falcon Lake Encounter,” one of North America’s most well-documented UFO sightings. Allow 1.5 hours for this ride. You will dismount your horse and explore the site on foot while your guide tells you the story of that fateful day in May 1967…

Private Rides

Hit the trails and explore, just you and an experienced guide. Private rides are recommended for advanced riders or small groups looking for a personalized experience. Your guide will tailor the ride to suit your abilities and interests and take you on some of our “trails less travelled”. Private rides are available in one, 1.5 and two-hour durations, or longer upon request.

Cookout Rides

Steak Cookout Ride - Enjoy a scenic one-hour trail ride and then relax at the Ranch while steaks are grilled over an open fire. Meal includes steak, potato, corn, rolls, dessert, and coffee or tea.

Breakfast Ride - Your memorable day begins with a delicious cowboy breakfast at Ranch. While you enjoy the beautiful ranch surroundings, your guides will ready your horses for a 1.5-hour private trail ride to the shores of Barren Lake. Allow a total of 2.5 hours for this activity.

Ranch Wiener Roast Ride - Enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour ride to Barren Lake followed by a campfire cookout at the Ranch. Hotdogs, drinks, and assorted picnic food included. Allow a total of 2.5 hours for this activity.

Wilderness Cookout Ride - Experience a scenic one-hour ride, stopping at our remote backcountry cookout site to roast hot dogs and enjoy a picnic lunch or dinner around the campfire. For the adventurous group, depart from the Ranch in the evening and ride home in the dark. Hot dogs, drinks and assorted picnic food are included. Allow a total of 2 hours for this activity.

Overnight Ride

Pack up and head out on an overnight adventure with just your horse and your knowledgeable guides. Experience the thrill of a deep-water crossing, wilderness trails and scenic lookouts as you ride for three hours through the backcountry from Falcon Lake to Star Lake. You will gain new respect for the stamina, surefootedness, and personality of your mount. Set up your tent by the lakeshore, then swim, fish or just relax by the fireside. Enjoy a full steak dinner cooked over the open fire, then trade stories and songs around a roaring campfire. Our guests are welcome to assist the guides in the feeding and care of their horse to any extent they wish. The next morning, wake up to campfire coffee and a cowboy breakfast before saddling up for the ride back to the Ranch.

SLEIGH RIDES

In winter, our team of Belgians will pull your sleigh through the wonderland that is the boreal forest in winter. Marvel at the stunning scenery and enjoy time with friends and family while staying warm under the blankets on the sleigh. Kids will love riding on the toboggan that we pull along behind. A typical sleigh ride takes 45 minutes to one hour.

SLEIGH RIDE EXCURSION

Add to the winter sleigh ride experience with a stop at our tipi, tucked into the forest along the trailside, to warm up and enjoy hot chocolate around a roaring campfire before continuing on your way. Allow 1.5 hours for this activity.

Wagon Rides

During the spring, summer or fall, experience a wagon ride drawn by our team of beautiful Belgians. A 45-minute tour through the Falcon Beach town site and along the shores of Falcon Lake is great fun for all ages.

Private Riding Lessons

Receive instruction one-on-one or with your own small group from an experienced instructor. We offer lessons for all ages and riding abilities and can design a lesson package to suit your needs. Lessons typically combine theory, ground-based horsemanship, arena riding and trail riding.  

Choose the number of lesson hours you want and the number of people in your group, and follow the chart to find the price per hour per person.

Summer Horse Camps

What could be more fun for the young rider or horse lover in your family than spending a week participating in horse camp at the Ranch? With camps suitable for ages 7 through 16, participants will learn about horses and horsemanship, tack, horse care, and trail riding. All camps provide plenty of hands-on horse experience and combine instruction with riding, games and other fun activities. Camps are five days in duration, Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to noon.

Buckaroos (Ages 7-11)

For the young Buckaroo, this camp contains the first building blocks of good horsemanship, the basics of riding and horse care, and includes trail riding as well as fun camp activities such as ranch games and crafts.

Wranglers (Ages 12- 16)

Our Wranglers camp builds on the skills learned in Buckaroos, focusing on ground-based horsemanship, tacking-up your horse, riding lessons, and horse and animal care, as well as group activities emphasizing teamwork.

Birthday Parties

Come to the Ranch to celebrate your child’s special day! A minimum of 6 children required.

Ranch Party (Ages 3-10)

The Ranch Party includes one pony ride for each child, a barn tour, and birthday cake with juice for $30 per child. Add a wiener roast over the campfire, plus another pony ride for an additional $10 per child.

Cowboy Party (Ages 8+)

Cowboy Party-goers head out on the trail for a one-hour horseback ride, and return to the Ranch for birthday cake and juice. $50 per child. Add a wiener roast over the campfire for an additional $10 per child.

 

Customized Group Packages

We are happy to work with any large group to create a ranch experience that fits your interests, schedule, and budget. Popular with school and corporate groups are packages that combine a horseback ride or wagon ride with a ranch cookout. Give us a call!

Horse Boarding

Whether you’re travelling through or planning to stay, consider boarding your horse at Falcon Beach Ranch. Our corrals provide a great place for your horse to stretch its legs after a long, cross-country drive or to rest after you spend the day riding our trails. For short-term boarding we offer well-maintained outdoor corrals with access to water or standing stalls. Long-term boarding may be available upon request.

You’re welcome to stay, too! Rent one of our log cabins, or camp overnight in your trailer for $15/night.

Corral

Overnight (6 pm – 9 am)    $25 for one horse, $10 per additional horse

Daily (9 am – 6 pm)            $25 for one horse, $10 per additional horse

Half Day (9 am – 1 pm)      $15 for one horse, $5 per additional horse

Standing Stall

Overnight (6 pm – 9 am)    $15 per horse

Daily (9 am – 6 pm)            $15 per horse

Half Day (9 am – 1 pm)      $10 per horse

Clean-up is your responsibility for corral and standing stall boarding. Rates do not include feed. Feed can be purchased at market price.

 

Horse Training

All of the horses here at the Ranch are trained in-house by Devin and Murray Imrie. During the spring and fall we will accept a limited number of horses for training. We specialize in starting young and/or untrained horses using the Parelli Natural Horsemanship method. All training is done using Western saddles and tack.

$45 Hourly Rate - Minimum 10 hours per horse

Add $6 per day for boarding; add $0.75 per km for trailering.

 

All-Natural Composted Topsoil

Give your garden a boost with our all-natural composted topsoil. We use natural composting methods to convert our horse manure into high nutrient soil with absolutely no odor remaining. Ideal for gardens, planters, lawn dressing, or larger landscaping projects. Available for bulk pickup or delivery. Ask about our contractor rates for large bulk purchases.

$20 per yard, loaded. $15 per yard for 3 yards or more.

$40 per trip delivery to Falcon Lake area

 

Firewood Bundles

We have dry firewood bundles available to fuel your evening campfire.

$7 per bundle or 3 bundles for $20

Falcon Beach Ranch is the ideal location for horse owners looking for a trail-riding getaway, or just passing through on the TransCanada highway. Make our Ranch your rest stop! After a day of riding or driving, unwind in one of our log cabins while your horse relaxes in our well-maintained corrals.

Cabin guests receive a 50% discount on horse boarding rates.
